Happy New Year everyone! One of my goals this year is to be more consistent. I created my JD Brunch Series last year and it was a big hit! The JD Brunch is a monthly series that I host for female bloggers, vloggers and social influencers. The brunch is invite only. I go off of vibes and interactions when I am selecting attendees. We speak freely about the industry, fashion, being a mother, dating, there’s no telling where the conversation may go. This series has allowed me to build relationships and collaborate with some really dope people and I am so excited to see what this year holds!
We kicked off the series at DTB on Oak Street! When I pick a location, I usually go for food presentation, restaurant location, cute or unique, and of course bottomless mimosas is always a plus!
The location was great and in a super photo worthy area. There are a bunch of cute shops on Oak Street. The atmosphere in the restaurant was pretty nice. It felt nice and airy. There are big windows so the natural sunlight shined through. The hostesses were really pleasant and our waitress was sweet, however I think she was a bit overwhelmed with the size of the group.
The food was really good however you definitely need to ask questions. I had no idea that Poutine was a french fries dish. So when my Cajun Poutine arrived I was a little confused. Especially because fries wasn’t listed on the physical menu and the waitress told me the dish is like an appetizer and I may want to order an “extra side like fries”… lol. Also the menu stated it was hook’s cheddar, LA blue crab, collard greens, and a sunny side egg. The collard greens and blue crab are cooked down into the gravy that’s poured over the fries. I got to taste Sumya stuffed beignets and those were delicious!
Check out some of the other dishes from the other ladies; and yes Whit said these were the best Shrimp & Grits of the brunch series thus far.
For my look I wore my Tupac Makaveli shirt (similar) that I purchased out of the Guys Section in Rue 21 and my gold maxi skirt that I’ve had for about two years. Threw on my leather jacket and I wanted to wear these cute pearl socks (similar) that I got from Target to complete the look. Let me know your thoughts on the look!
