All Things Hair - Essence Beauty Carnival
So guys being from New Orleans, I am always excited when the Essence Festival comes to town. I especially enjoy people watching. From the fashion to the hair it’s just an overall beautiful sight! This year was really special not only because it was 25 year anniversary but because All Things Hair invited me to attend the Essence Beauty Carnival.
Beauty Carnival is pretty much your one stop shop during essence for all things hair and beauty! There are panel discussions with different beauty and hair gurus, cute photo opportunities and cool activities and samples from great brands such as Dove, Shea Moisture and TRESemmé.
There were also some pretty dope art installations that took you through the history of hairstyles for black women. From afros, to braids, and weaves, the black woman has always used their hair to express themselves. My natural hair can sometimes be a task but it is my crown and I take pride in my natural tresses.
I especially enjoyed the Curls Convo with TRESemmé and celebrity stylist Ursula Stephen, she’s styled many celebrities such as Zendaya, Rihanna and Queen Latifah! Ursula did a hair demo showing how great the Keratin treatment is when performing smoothing treatments, such as a silk press – which also protects from frizz and you definitely need a powerful frizz fighter while living in the extremely humid NOLA. She started off with a long ponytail, wrapped it around into a fancy top knot and added jewels to spruce up the look. It was definitely a look that I would try out myself.
For my look, I knew I wanted a style that was cool and easy. I decided to go with my signature top puff! I washed my hair the night before with the Shea Moisture Red Palm Oil & Cocoa Butter Hi-Slip Detangling Shampoo and the Leave-In or Rinse-Out Conditioner. Ya’ll this was the easiest detangling process I have had in a long time! If you want the full tutorial on how to do my signature top puff hairstyle and want to learn more about my Beauty Carnival experience, you can check out this article here.
I want to give a major shoutout to All Things Hair for inviting me to the Beauty Carnival. I had such an amazing time. Check out more photos below! Also visit my Instgram Page and check out some more highlights from the event as well as my GRWM video on IGTV.
